Cash for Mobiles

Most people do not realise that their old mobile phone may be worth money.  More than three quarters of the parts in a handset can be recycled and many old phones that are in reasonable working order can be refurbished and put to good use.

There are many ways in which a mobile phone can be recycled or reused but reports state that as little as three percent of people actually bother to recycle them.  An even more disturbing statistic is that three quarters of consumers are not even aware of how to go about recycling their phone.

When an old handset ends its life in a landfill site it has the potential to be very harmful to the environment.  Phones contain chemicals, such as cadmium, which can leach into the soil.

An alternative method of disposal, selling the phone, benefits both the environment and the user. Most people choose a specialist mobile phone recycling company that will give you cash for mobile phones also ensure that the handset goes to a good home, or that the components are properly recycled.

The amount of cash that the seller can realise will vary depending on the make, model and condition of the handset, and of course the company you choose to sell it to.  It is advisable not to just send it to the first company you find, but to obtain quotes from several.  The price one organisation is prepared to pay does not necessarily reflect the potential payout from all of them.

New companies are entering the phone recycling market all the time, which is good news for consumers as it provides them with a wider range of options.
